humbled.

Photo taken by Karli Rose

It is hard for me to ask for things from people.

It's easier for me to ask for something
if it's for someone else.

But if it involves me, no way.

I hold my tongue.
I decide that I need to pull myself up by my bootstraps
and figure it out on my own.

It's prideful. It's ugly. It creates a mess.

But I am humbled by God,
His Holiness,
by His mercy.

I need God
and I need help from God's people,
The Body of Christ.

My first trip to Haiti I didn't ask for help financially.

But this time around
(and in very recent days too)

God has shown me:

not once

not twice

but three times (!)

that I need to ask for help.

And The Truth:

That really it's not about me.

It is not.
 It's about giving up myself.
It's about becoming part of the bigger picture.

It's about people that are hungry and poor in every sense
physically and spiritually.

It's about going out into the world
loving and sharing The Gospel.

It's about His Kingdom.
one that will never fade.

It's about His life in me.
It's about Him.

But I can't do it without The Body of Christ.

I need help.

So I'm asking. And I'm praying.

I need to raise a little over $1,500 more.
Every donation will go towards helping many.
I will be back in Haiti October 14-21.

If you are able to give, would you please give today?
And if you can't give, would you pray?

truly. i. am. humbled.

  1. Praying Alisha! I like the one verse that says God will supply all our needs. Whether through others or through his miraculous mysterious ways, God will provide. Just keep thanking Him for what is to come! He delights in blessing us.

    1. Thank you so much for your prayers Renee. You are so dear to me! Really dear to me. I am holding onto the promise of Philippians 4:19 Thank You for the reminder to praise Him while the provision is still on it's way!

  2. Alisha- I have missed your comments and your blog posts! It is one of the things I look foward to most about blogging, your comments. Nope, not anyone else's, yours! Thank you for stopping by Streams Of Abundance the other day! That comment blessed me SO much!! My summer has been great, mixed together with school and moving to a different house. Busy at times, but still lots of fun! How was your summer? I am praying about how much the Lord would have me give to your trip. I think it is amazing that you go to Haiti, answering the call God has on your life! God has given me a calling on my life to care for the orphans and widows as well, I am not totally sure where yet, so I am praying and waiting in faith for God to show me the where's, when's, what's and how's!! I pray that you be ABUNDANTLY blessed! Have an awesome week!!
